First Lady of the Maldives Fazna Ahmed has conducted a meeting with Interim CEO of Girl Guides USA Judith Batty and Director of Global Girl Scouting, Girl Guides USA Adwoa Aidoo on the sidelines of the 76th Session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA).
During the meeting, First Lady Fazna praised the Girl Guide movement of the USA for support of the Girl Guide Association of the Maldives, particularly the support from the World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts. She highlighted that during the COVID-19 pandemic it has been necessary for the Girl Guides of Maldives to be innovative, adding the association has held virtual events and the young leaders played important roles during the pandemic, including working with elders.
Interim CEO Judith Batty thanked First Lady Fazna for taking time to meet and assured her commitment to exploring opportunities for collaboration with Girl Guides Maldives. It was agreed that discussions on future collaborations would continue through the Chief Commissioner of the Maldives Girl Guides Association.
