First Lady Fazna Ahmed pays a visit to the Carter Burden/Leonard Covello Senior Programme in New York City. She paid the visit as a part of her ongoing trip to New York City with President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih for the 76th Session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA).
During her visit, First Lady Fazna made inquiries regarding the programmes held at the senior centre and spoke with the management of the centre regarding similar programmes that may be initiated in the Maldives.
The Carter Burden/Leonard Covello Senior Program is one of New York City's Innovative Senior Centers that provide socialisation, recreation, and education. The programme is curated for individuals above 60 years of age, offering a wide array of daily activities including art workshops, health, and wellness programmes, and a caregiver resource programme. The centre also partners with other community-based organisations to provide health services, educational workshops, and lectures on health-specific topics.
First Lady Fazna was accompanied at the visit by Special Envoy for Climate Change Sabra Ibrahim Noordeen.
