Civil Service Commission (CSC) has urged government employees to exercise their right to strike in a way that does not hinder the provision of services. CSC made the statement in a press release in response to some employees refusing to work due to concerns over their salary and allowances and addressing their concerns on social media.
In the press release, CSC stated it is always willing to listen to the concerns of employees and upholding their rights, while also providing its services as mandated by law. The commission stated it will take the necessary actions to solve the issues addressed by employees with assistance from the government and relevant authorities.
Additionally, CSC noted that some groups have been using its logo without authorisation while claiming to work for the rights of its employees. As such, CSC stated the group called Dhivehi Civil Servants Association currently active on social media is not a registered organisation and advised CSC employees not to join their activities or heed their advice.
CSC stated it is always willing to discuss concerns of employees but urged them to exercise their civil rights in a way that does not hinder from providing services. The commission also urged the media to fully research the current issues being addressed on social media before publishing reports.
