Nadeem, Shafeeu appointed as judges of the Criminal Court

Judicial Service Commission (JSC) has announced Ali Nadeem and Ismail Shafeeu have been appointed as judges of the Criminal Court of the Maldives. The two judges were appointed at the swearing-in ceremony held at the JSC. Nadeem and Shafeeu were appointed after they were approved by a JSC committee following a review of their applications and interviews.

Ali Nadeem holds a Degree in Sharia and Law from the Al Azhar University in Egypt and has two years of experience working as a state prosecutor in the Prosecutor General's Office (PGO).

Ismail Shafeeu holds a Bachelor's Degree in Law from Cardiff University in the UK and has over two years of experience working as a state prosecutor in the PGO.

Furthermore, JSC appointed three magistrates at the ceremony. As such, Mariyam Ifham Nashid, who was appointed as Magistrate of Eydhafushi in Baa Atoll, holds a Bachelor's Degree with Honours in Shariah and Law and has six years of experience working as a legal assistant in the Eydhafushi Magistrate Court.

Abduh Salaam, who was appointed as Magistrate of Fuvahmulah City, holds a Bachelor's Degree with Honours in Shariah and Law and has four years of experience working as a legal assistant in the High Court of the Maldives.

Wishah Wajeed, who was appointed as Magistrate of Kolamaafushi in Gaafu Alifu Atoll, holds a Bachelor's Degree in Shariah and Law and has almost two years of experience working as a legal assistant in the Dhaandhoo Magistrate Court.
