MDP publicises final list of voters for National Congress Elections

Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) has published the final list of voters for the party's national congress elections.

The main ruling party has scheduled its national congress elections to be held on September 25.MDP stated members that who are not included in the list published on the party website will not be allowed to vote. Therefore, only registered MDP members whose names are included in the list will be able to cast their vote in the elections.

At a press conference, Chairperson of MDP Hassan Latheef revealed that 733 candidates will be running in the elections for various districts and positions. Additionally, Hassan said MDP reviewed its membership before formulating the list of voters and that 93,165 party members have been qualified to vote in the election, while 940 members have been excluded.

MDP is the largest party in the Maldives with 93,354 registered members and the MDP national congress election is the largest internal election of the party. MDP will be placing 300 ballot boxes in various parties of the country and hiring 900 officials for the election. MDP will soon be seeking election officials and encouraged party members with no affiliation to the candidates to submit their applications, said Chairperson Hassan.
