Maldives Immigration has announced plans to establish an office in Thinadhoo, Gaafu Dhaalu Atoll next year.
The announcement was made by Controller General of Immigration Mohamed Ahmed Hussain following a meeting with the Thinadhoo Island Council on September 12. The meeting was focused on decentralising immigration services through Thinadhoo to Gaafu Alifu and Gaafu Dhaalu Atoll.
Speaking to PSM News, Controller General Mohamed Ahmed Hussain said Immigration had a very fruitful the meeting with the Thinadhoo Island Council, noting advanced discussions were held on establishing an Immigration office in Thinadhoo. He said the aim is to commence services in Thinadhoo next year.
The controller further stated Immigration is working on establishing more offices across the country, as part of efforts to decentralise its services. As such, he said similar discussions will be held with councils of other islands.
In addition to the Greater Male’ Region, Maldives Immigration currently has offices in Addu City Hithadhoo, Fuvahmulah City and Kulhudhuffushi City.
