Maldives Reform Movement (MRM) has announced it has opened applications for 16 positions.
MRM stated members will vote for the candidates at the party's national convention scheduled for October 2. The MRM interim executive committee deliberated on and adopted the rules of procedure of the upcoming convention at its 10th online meeting.
Notable open positions at MRM include party president and party leader. At the MRM national convention, members will also be voting to elect a male and female vice president, 10 male members and 10 female members for the executive committee, as well as the president and the vice president youth council.
MRM members will also be electing 15 male members and 15 female members for the youth council, the president and vice president of the women's council, and 20 members of the women's council. Candidates will also be vying for five seats in the elections committee, the disciplinary committee, and the appeals committee. MRM requested interested individuals to submit their applications before September 16.
The Elections Commission of the Maldives (ECM) permitted MRM to hold the party convention in 2019. However, the party was previously unable to hold the convention due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
