Revenue received by the Maldives from imports and exports has increased in August 2021 compared to the same month last year.
Statistics published by the Maldives Customs Service (MCS) showed the value of cost, insurance and freight (CIF) of imports increased 63% in August this year.
Further, goods worth USD 136 million were imported to the Maldives, and goods worth USD 227 million were imported to the Maldives in August this year.
Meanwhile, goods worth USD 43.7 million were exported from the Maldives in August 2020, and goods worth USD 17.4 million were exported last month which is recorded as a decrease of 60%.
The state received USD 6.6 million in August last year and USD 18.6 million in August this year which is an increase of 182%. Most imports were made from India, China and the UAE, according to the statistics.
