Kulhudhuffushi Regional Hospital (KRH) has issued an announcement seeking contractors to develop a COVID-19 treatment facility in Kulhudhuffushi City.
The announcement by KRH called for parties interested in developing the facility to fill the registration sheet provided in the Government Gazette. KRH stated registration will be open until 1330hrs on September 13.
Concerns on the lack of a suitable COVID-19 treatment facility in Kulhudhuffushi were raised during the visit of President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih to KRH in July. The management of KRH noted the hospital is the largest hospital in the northern atolls, and serves a large population in the north. Therefore, the hospital stated not having a specialised facility to treat COVID-19 patients obstructs the services provided to all different types of patients.
KRH provides PCR testing services in Kulhudhuffushi, as well as 6 other islands of Haa Dhaalu Atoll. However, the nearest COVID-19 treatment facilities are located in Ihavandhoo, Haa Alifu Atoll and Funadhoo, Shaviyani Atoll.
