President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has vowed to prevent the Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) from collapsing. He made the statement in a meeting with members of the main ruling party during his tour to Thaa Atoll.
During the meeting, President Solih said he remains steadfast with MDP as the most senior leader of the party. He also highlighted the importance of increasing party activities and vowed to provide assistance in organising activities and building an MDP office.
Recently, Parliamentarian Hassan Afeef questioned the president's loyalty to MDP following disagreements within the party. President Solih responded by saying that he has been with MDP since its formation but that he has asked the party's chairperson to look into the issue, as Afeef is a senior member of the party.
President Solih has been meeting with local MDP members during his ongoing three-day trip to Thaa Atoll.
