Home ministry begins establishment of terrorism-related intelligence sharing system

Ministry of Home Affairs has commenced the work to establish a terrorism-related intelligence sharing system, as mandated by the Prevention of Terrorism Act.

In a tweet, Minister of Home Affairs Imran Abdulla revealed works on the establishment of the intelligence sharing system has commenced following the finalisation of the functional structure for sharing intelligence. In his tweet, the home minister acknowledged the assistance provided to the work by the authorities specified by the law as intelligence agencies. He added additional work will be undertaken to increase the capability of the relevant institutions and authorities in analysing intelligence information and using this system effectively.

The Prevention of Terrorism Act mandates intelligence agencies to be equipped with the resources to acquire and analyse intelligence information related to terrorist activities. The act further states other state institutions must also be able to relay any terrorism-related intelligence information to the intelligence agencies through the designated system.
