President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has departed on a three-day trip to Thaa Atoll. President Solih will visit a total of seven islands as part of his trip, according to the President's Office.
The president began his trip with a visit to Thimarafushi and plans to visit Kinbidhoo, Omadhoo, and Veymandoo on August 18.
President Solih will conclude his trip by visiting Vandhoo, Kandoodhoo, and Gaadhiffushi on August 19.
During his trip, President Solih is scheduled to meet members of the island councils and women's development committees. As part of his trip, the president will also be inaugurating new government projects and observing the work sites for the ongoing projects in the atoll, as well as touring various schools.
This is the second trip President Solih has made since the ease of COVID-19 restrictions in the Maldives.
His first trip was to Haa Dhaalu Atoll with First Lady Fazna Ahmed in July, during which the first couple visited islands in the atoll and held discussions with members of the island councils and women's development committees.
