Civil Service Commission (CSC) has announced civil servants who have not been vaccinated against COVID-19 will be required to undergo a PCR test every 14 days in order to attend work, starting from September 1.
In a circular released on August 12, CSC stated unvaccinated civil servants will not be permitted to attend work without a PCR test every 14 days, starting from next month. CSC said the decision is in line with the instructions given by the Director General of Public Health, to promote vaccination. CSC has instructed all civil servants to get vaccinated as soon as possible.
Health Emergency Operations Centre (HEOC) had earlier stated 20% of the eligible Maldivian population remains unvaccinated. HEOC has called on all eligible citizens to receive their vaccinations and warned special guidelines will be put in place for unvaccinated individuals from September 1 onwards.
