Criminal Court goes into recess

Criminal Court of the Maldives has announced it has gone into recess. The Criminal Court is set to be in recess from June 27 to July 10.

During recess, the Criminal Court will only accept urgent cases such as issuing remand periods for arrested suspects and issuing court orders for investigative authorities.

Furthermore, the court will be hosting a programme for judges and legal workers on the revised criminal procedures as well as a programme hosted by the Dhivehi Language Academy on the proper use of the Dhivehi language. Other meetings scheduled during recess include a special meeting for the employees at the Criminal Court and discussions with the Department of Judicial Administration (DJA) on improving the court's productivity.
