Government office closure extended by another week

President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has extended the duration of the previously announced government office closure until June 29.

In a statement, the President's Office directed all government employees in the Greater Male' Region to keep working from home as necessary and provide services online. The President's Office also stated employees who are required to go to their offices need permission from a minister or head of an office or institution and need to adhere to all the guidelines issued by the Health Protection Agency (HPA).

President Solih initially directed the closure of all government offices in the Greater Male' Region on May 5, as a precautionary measure to curb the spread of COVID-19.

The president has been extending the directive each week, due to the spike in COVID-19 cases that began in May.
