President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has expressed gratitude to the healthcare volunteers who assisted the government to respond to the recent spike in COVID-19 cases.
In a tweet, President Solih thanked volunteers at the Hulhumale' COVID-19 facility and helped with the government's health response during a difficult phase of the pandemic. He said the whole nation owes the volunteers a debt of gratitude and he is looking forward to brighter days ahead.
The government sought healthcare volunteers in response to the spike in COVID-19 cases last month. As such, volunteers had been tasked with taking samples, assisting the staff at the COVID-19 facilities and the Health Emergency Operations Centre (HEOC).
First Lady Fathimath Fazna had also volunteered to help with the government's response to the COVID-19 pandemic.
