Attorney General’s Office (AG Office) has revealed eight of the bills planned for the second parliamentary session of 2021 have been submitted.
AG Office revealed a total of 19 bills are planned to be submitted to the parliament during the second session of 2021. AG Office stated 8 of the 19 bills have already been submitted, including the amendment bill to the Judges Act and the two amendment bills to the Penal Code of the Maldives. Bills submitted during the ongoing session also include the bills on registration of births and deaths, animal health, food and compensation for defamation.
AG Office stated additional bills to be submitted during the ongoing session of the parliament include bill on evidence and witnesses, bill on electronic communications and the bill on the commercial use of living species threatened with extinction. The government also plans to bring amendments to certain acts which contradict the new Decentralisation Act and its objectives.
