Dr. Farahnaaz appointed as President of Women in Diplomacy Network

Women in Diplomacy Network has appointed High Commissioner of the Maldives to the United Kingdom and Ambassador of the Maldives to France and Ireland Dr. Farahanaz Faisal as its President.

At a ceremony held in Georgian Embassy in the United Kingdom, the credentials of the appointment were handed over to Dr. Farahanaz by Linda Scott, the current president of the Women in Diplomacy Network. This is the first time a Maldivian will be holding the presidency of the Women in Diplomacy Network.

Dr. Farahanaz will officially commence the presidency of the organisation in July. The theme for the next six months is Women and Climate Change. The presidency of the organisation changes every 6 months.

The purpose of the Women in Diplomacy Network based in the United Kingdom is to build a long-lasting network of female diplomats, demonstrating leadership on gender issues, upskilling female diplomats to support their career development and impact as leaders. In addition, leveraging existing success in creating an open and inclusive working environment where everyone can flourish is also a purpose of the network.
