Ministry of Education has announced schools in the Greater Male’ Region will continue conducting classes online until the end of the current academic year, which ends on June 24.
The education ministry stated schools in the Male’ area have been instructed to continue online classes until the end of the ongoing academic year, as advised by Health Protection Agency (HPA). Schools are currently conducting its second semester examinations, with the second semester and the academic year set to end on June 24.
The ongoing academic year has been interrupted multiple times due to the COVID-19 pandemic. As a result, the education ministry brought major changes to the academic year, with the new academic year beginning in August as opposed to January.
Meanwhile, several parents have expressed concern over the behavioral changes of students due to the extended closure of schools and having to stay home for so long. Health experts have been advising parents on how to ensure the psychological well-being of students at this time.
