Pakistan bans travellers from the Maldives

Ministry of Tourism has stated the Government of Pakistan has banned travellers from the Maldives.

In a circular, the ministry stated it was informed by the High Commission of Pakistan that the Maldives has been placed under Category C of the Categorisation Country List concerning inbound travel to Pakistan amidst the COVID-19 pandemic. As such, the ministry stated all inbound travellers to Pakistan from the countries under Category C are to be banned and only allowed subject to exemption by the committee designated by the Pakistani government.

The circular requested all tourist facilities to communicate the new changes to all tourists and maintain adherence to the guidelines set forth by the ministry, Health Protection Agency (HPA), and other relevant authorities.

Due to the rise in COVID-19 cases in the South Asian region, Maldives has also imposed travel restrictions by suspending issuing tourist visas for travellers from other South Asian countries.
