Judicial Service Commission (JSC) has decided to take disciplinary action against the Chief Magistrate of Lhohi Magistrate Court, Ahmed Hassan Manik.
JSC stated the chief magistrate of the island in Noonu Atoll was investigated in relation to violations of Article 32 of the Judges’ Act, clause 35 of the trial regulations and the code of conduct for judges. As such, JSC said Ahmed Hassan Manik was found to have violated the said clauses when he decided to step aside from a certain case in court.
Following the investigation, JSC decided to impose disciplinary action on the chief magistrate. As such, the chief magistrate has been asked to undergo a certain training programme allocated by JSC.
