Armed soldiers to operate across the country following May 6 attack

Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF) has stated armed soldiers will be operating in the Greater Male’ Region and several other regions across the Maldives following the terrorist attack on May 6 that wounded Speaker of Parliament Mohamed Nasheed.

MNDF stated security measures have been strengthened across the country following the May 6 attack. As such, MNDF said armed soldiers will be operating in several regions across the country.

Speaker Nasheed was the target of the attack in Male’ on May 6, which also left members of his security team and some innocent bystanders injured. So far, three people have been arrested in relation to the attack.
