President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has vowed to bring the perpetrators of the terrorist attack against Speaker of Parliament Mohamed Nasheed on May 6 to justice.

In a televised address given on May 12, the president stated the terror attack on Speaker Nasheed had instilled fear and unease in the hearts of the people, and condemned the attackers as inhumane. Speaker Nasheed had suffered serious life-threatening injuries in the bomb attack on May 6 near his residence in Male’. The speaker underwent life-saving surgery on injuries to his head, chest, abdomen and limbs over the course of 16 hours. His family has revealed he is recovering well from his injuries.
