Information provided by public crucial to investigation of May 6 attack: Home Minister

Minister of Home Affairs Imran Abdulla has stated the information provided by the public has been crucial to the progress achieved in the investigation of the terrorist attack against Speaker of Parliament Mohamed Nasheed on May 6.

Speaking on Twitter regarding the investigation, Home Minister Imran said significant progress has been made in the investigation, aided by vital information provided by the public. He also acknowledged the good work carried out by police officers involved in the investigation.

Three people have been arrested in relation to the attack against the Speaker on May 6. This includes the person suspected of detonating the Improvised Explosive Device (IED) while the Speaker was walking towards his car, as well as the owner of the motorcycle on which the IED was attached.

Speaker Nasheed suffered serious life-threatening injuries due to the attack. Following multiple life-saving surgeries, the speaker has been placed in intensive care at ADK Hospital. The hospital has revealed he is gradually recovering from the injuries.
