President appoints Shifla Ibrahim to BroadCom

President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has appointed Shifla Ibrahim as a member of the Maldives Broadcasting Commission (BroadCom).

Shifla Ibrahim was presented her Letter of Appointment during a ceremony held at the President’s Office on May 5. After presenting Shifla with the Letter of Appointment, President Solih met her and discussed pertinent issues related to the broadcasting sector.

Shifla graduated with a Master of Arts in Journalism and Media Communications from the Islamic University of Maldives in 2019. She started her journalism career in 1999 in Television Maldives (TVM) as an announcer trainee. She worked at Sangu Television as a News Anchor until her new appointment.

BroadCom is an independent body mandated to govern the implementation of the Broadcasting Act. It is a seven-member commission which consists of its President Maryam Waheeda, Vice President Ahmed Gais and members Mohamed Fazeen, Aminath Ameena, Ali Yoosuf, Amjad Waheed and Shifla Ibrahim.
