Legal Counsel to the President Ahmed Abdulla Afeef has stated the government continuously works to bring justice and will prosecute state officials in cases where their negligence caused the state to provide compensation to affected parties.
At a press conference at the President's Office, Legal Counsel Afeef said the government has identified cases in which the state is liable to provide compensation to parties that were harmed through state negligence or intent, noting the government will not hesitate in providing compensation to affected parties in these cases. He said the government is not interested in conducting political trials and is willing to settle some cases out of court to bring justice to both parties.
The legal counsel also said the government has not raised a single criminal charge over politics and will only pursue charges in cases where there is evidence, even in cases where the state is eligible for compensation.
