Minister of Foreign Affairs Abdulla Shahid has departed to India on an official trip.
The foreign minister will visit India from 15-16 April 2021 on an official visit. During his two-day visit Minister Shahid will meet the Minister of External Affairs of India Dr. S Jaishankar and discuss bilateral and multilateral issues of mutual interest. The foreign ministry stated the purpose of the visit is to review progress on bilateral cooperation, and discuss the implementation of key developmental projects under the Line of Credit extended to the Maldives by India.
India has lately increased providing assistance to the Maldives in various sectors. As such, during the COVID-19 pandemic, India has provided vaccines and other medical equipment, in addition to conducting several development projects in the Maldives.
