President ratifies first amendment bill to the Armed Forces Act

President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih ratifies the first amendment bill to the Armed Forces Act.

The bill was passed by Parliament on March 8, at the 14th sitting of its first session this year. The bill was ratified by the President on March 11.

The amendment is based on two subjects; maintaining the armed forces' structure and prioritising retaining the most adept officers in the force. This amendment would further strengthen the retirement procedures of armed forces personnel.

Following its ratification, the legislation has now been published in the Government Gazette and has subsequently come into force.
