The High Commission of India in the Maldives has announced visa application process for Maldivians travelling to India will be carried out online starting from this week.
The Indian High Commission stated visa application process has been turned online in order to resolve the difficulties faced by people who are forced to wait in long queues outside the high commission. As such, the high commission said filling the visa application form and booking appointments will be carried out through the Indian visa website and the consular appointment website respectively.
Despite the closure of Indian borders due to COVID-19, the Indian government has facilitated arrangements for Maldivians travelling to India for different purposes. As such, a large number of Maldivians still travel to India for medical treatment.
