Minister of National Planning Housing and Infrastructure Mohamed Aslam has stated the government’s revised housing policy will focus on the financial status and living condition of applicants.
The minister made the statement while speaking at a press conference organised by the Spokesperson at the President’s Office Mohamed Mabrook Azeez. Minister Aslam was joined at the panel by State Minister at the Housing Ministry Akram Kamaludeen.
Speaking at the press conference, Minister Aslam expressed that the administration believes in the allocation of social housing to the most deserving people. He announced that the new policy would not consider housing eligibility based on applicants’ profession or age, adding consideration would be given to their living condition and financial status. He said the government plans to introduce housing schemes under four income bands ranging from low- to high-income categories.
Briefing the media on the progress of projects, the Spokesperson Mabrook Azeez informed that three projects had been completed over the past week, while an additional three were initiated. He said over the past month, the government began 16 projects, while another seven were completed.
