President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has appointed Dr. Mohamed Zahir as a member of the Elections Commission of the Maldives (ECM).
President Solih presented the letter of appointment to Dr. Zahir at a ceremony held at the President's Office on February 21. The newly appointed member then took his oath of office, administered by Hathif Hilmee, the Chief Justice of the High Court.
Dr. Mohamed Zahir attained his PhD from the National Institute of Development Administration (NIDA), Bangkok, Thailand. He also completed his Master of Business Administration from the Open University in Malaysia. He previously served as an Assistant Professor at the Maldives National University (MNU) and filled the Director at the Elections Commission of the Maldives (ECM) position.
A new member was appointed to ECM following the resignation of former Vice President of ECM Ahmed Akram, upon allegations of workplace misconduct.
