Female officers appointed to MNDF Advisory Council for the first time

Female officers have been appointed to the Advisory Council of Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF) for the first time.

The female officers who were newly appointed to the MNDF Advisory Council are Lieutenant Colonel Hawwa Sheneen and Lieutenant Colonel Dr. Fathimath Thahuseena Ibrahim. This is the first time female officers have been appointed to the MNDF Advisory Council.

Lieutenant Colonel Hawwa Sheneen and Lieutenant Colonel Dr. Fathimath Thahuseena Ibrahim were two of the three female officers who recently made history by becoming the first female officers to achieve Lieutenant Colonel rank in MNDF. Hawwa Sheneen is the Chief Executive Officer of MNDF’s welfare corporation SIFCO, while Dr. Fathimath Thahuseena Ibrahim is the Deputy Commanding Officer at the military hospital Senahiya.

The MNDF Advisory Council is formed among senior officers of MNDF, to give counsel to the Chief of Defence Force and the Minister of Defence regarding operational and administrative matters related to the military.
