The Presidential Commission on Deaths and Disappearances (DDCom) announces a reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of perpetrators responsible for the disappearance of journalist Ahmed Rilwan Abdulla.
DDCom held a press conference on February 9 to provide the media with the latest information on the progress of their inquiries. Commission member Misbah Abbas provided updates via a virtual press conference.
Speaking at the press conference, commission member Misbah Abbas briefed reporters on the progress of their inquiry into the forced disappearance of Ahmed Rilwan Abdulla, stating that the commission attaches high priority to solving Rilwan’s case. He said that the commission had earlier released a photograph of the weapon found at the purported site of Rilwan’s abduction and subsequently announced a USD 32,000 reward for anyone who can provide enough information leading to the arrest and conviction of those responsible for Rilwan’s disappearance.
Misbah stated that the commission strongly believes that there are individuals within the public who have knowledge of the incident, appealing to them to contact the commission. He also added that the commission can be reached through the secure communication channels established and reassured the safety of informants coming forth.
