Ministry of Education has revealed the Edexcel A’Level examinations scheduled for May/June this year have been cancelled.
In a statement released on February 4, the education ministry said UK’s Pearson has decided not to conduct the A’Level examinations in May/June this year due to the ongoing global situation of COVID-19. The ministry said the Office of Qualifications and Examinations Regulation (Ofqual) in the UK is set to release a decision on how to evaluate and assess A’Level students on February 22.
However, the education ministry said the A’Level examinations scheduled for October/November will go ahead as scheduled. The ministry also said no changes have been brought to the A’Level application process, and requested students and schools to continue preparations without any changes.
In addition, the education ministry stated it is currently engaging in discussions with Edexcel to determine an alternative method to evaluate students. The ministry assured that the opinion of students and schools will be sought before reaching a decision on an alternative method of evaluation.
