President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has wished a successful academic year for students, teachers and parents, as schools reopened after an extended break.
In a tweet posted on the occasion of school reopening, President Solih wished students, teachers and parents a great year ahead as students return to their classrooms after many months of pandemic shutdown. He expressed hope students will get many new learning opportunities upon return to school, while reconnecting with old friends and making new ones.
Meanwhile, Vice President Faisal Naseem also posted a tweet welcoming students and the school community to the year 2021. He expressed delight that all students have the opportunity to return to schools after a challenging year. He prayed that this year brings good health and success to all.
Schools reopened on January 10 for the second term of the 2020 Academic Year. Part of the 2020 Academic Year was pushed to 2021 due to the lockdown imposed in the Maldives last year amid the COVID-19 pandemic. Schools have been instructed to strictly adhere to the guidelines of Health Protection Agency (HPA) upon resuming school sessions.
