Maldives Airports Company Limited (MACL) has advised against unnecessary visits to the airport.
In a tweet, MACL advised to minimise meeting and greeting passengers from the airports as high traffic is being experienced currently at Velana International Airport (VIA). MACL said it is highly recommended to avoid unnecessary visits to airport, to ensure COVID-19 is contained.
General Manager Corporate Communications at MACL Hassan Areef stated MACL has taken precautionary measures to ensure the safety of passengers travelling amid the COVID-19 pandemic. He noted lately the arrivals to the airport from families and friends of passengers have increased which is highly unappreciated by the company due to the current pandemic. He said it is crucial that everybody follow the rules and precautions set in place to ensure the services are not interrupted again.
Moreover, MACL has advised travelers to be present at least two hours before domestic departures and three hours before international departure to avoid possible delays and long queues.
