President calls for increased efforts to eliminate violence against women

President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has called for increased efforts to provide a safe environment for women, free of violence and abuse.

President Solih made the statement in a tweet posted on the occasion of International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women. In his tweet, the president said as the world initiates 16 days of activism on eliminating violence against women, we must redouble our efforts to ensure that all women can live with dignity and free of violence and abuse.

International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women is marked annually on November 25. The theme for this year’s day on eliminating violence against women is “Orange the World: Fund, Respond, Prevent, Collect!".
