Chief of Defence Force participates in IPAMS and SELF as a panelist

Chief of Defense Force Major General Abdulla Shamaal has participated at the 44th Indo-Pacific Armies’ Management Seminar (IPAMS) and 6th Senior Enlisted Leaders Forum (SELF) as a panelist.

The Philippine Army (PA) and the United States Army Pacific (USARPAC) opened the 44th Indo-Pacific Armies Management Seminar (IPAMS) and the 6th Senior Enlisted Leaders Forum (SELF) via video conference at Fort Bonifacio. The conference was held from November 17 to 18.

The two-day event calls for the participating Indo-Pacific Armies to discuss their best practices and strategies in addressing challenges in urban environments while fostering ties amid the pandemic. At the panel, Chief of Defense Force Major General Abdulla Shamaal spoke about the importance of adapting forces to the modern urban environment and gave a Maldivian perspective to the discussions.

IPAMS is a military seminar that provides a forum for senior-level ground forces officers from the Indo-Pacific region to exchange views and ideas, develop strong interpersonal relationships, and strengthen existing bonds. SELF is comprised of group discussions and professional development activities directed at senior-enlisted personnel from Indo-Pacific countries.

The theme for this year’s IPAMS is “Addressing Challenges to Indo-Pacific Armies in Urban Environments.”
