Additional PCR testing facilities arranged for tourists in safaris

National Boating Association of the Maldives (NBAM) has stated PCR testing facilities have been arranged in 9 islands for tourists in safaris.

NBAM stated arrangements were made to ensure tourists in safaris do not have to travel to Male’ to undergo PCR testing. As such, NBAM said tourists in safaris can now get tested in Thulusdhoo, Himmafushi, Dhiffushi, Gulhi, Guraidhoo and Maafushi in Kaafu Atoll, as well as Dhangethi and Dhigurah in Alifu Dhaalu Atoll and Ukulhas in Alifu Alifu Atoll.

NBAM said PCR testing has been arranged in the aforementioned islands following discussions with relevant authorities. The association revealed tourists will be charged USD 75 for the tests.

Tourists departing from resorts, guesthouses and safaris in the Maldives are required to undergo PCR testing before departure. Previously, testing facilities for tourists departing from safaris were only arranged in Male’ and Hulhumale’.

Since reopening of borders on July 15, 122 safaris have been permitted to resume operations in the Maldives. This represents a figure of 2,300 beds.
