Foreign Minister meets Non-Resident Ambassadors of some African countries

Minister of Foreign Affairs Abdulla Shahid has met with Non-Resident Ambassadors of some African countries, accredited to the Maldives.

The foreign ministry revealed Heads of Missions of Morocco, The Gambia, Guinea and Senegal as well as Chargé d'Affaires' from Egypt and Tunisia took part in the virtual meeting. During the meeting, the minister and the envoys exchanged information about the evolving situation of COVID-19, and enhancing bilateral and multilateral relationships between the countries.

Foreign Minister Shahid noted the close cultural and civilizational links between the Maldives and the African countries, and the shared values and principles, especially given that the countries represented at the meeting were also members of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC). He also thanked all the countries for the support extended to the Maldives during the COVID-19 situation.

The meeting is an initiative of the foreign minister to cultivate closer relationships and interaction between the Ministry and the Representatives accredited to the Maldives.
