Ministry of Economic Development has extended the permissible service hours of shops, cafes and restaurants in the Greater Male’ Region, following the latest changes brought to curfew hours in the capital.
Health Protection Agency (HPA) had earlier announced the curfew in Male’, Hulhumale’ and Villimale’ will run from 12:00am to 04:00am, starting from November 8. Following the HPA announcement, the economic ministry stated shops in the Male’ Region will be permitted to operate from 05:00 am till 11:00pm, and cafes, restaurants and other food outlets will be permitted to operate from 04:30am till 11:30pm. Shops were previously required to close by 10:00pm, while cafes and restaurants were required to close by 10:30pm.
HPA has eased some of the restrictions imposed in the capital, following a decrease in COVID-19 cases. In addition to shortening the curfew, HPA has also permitted parks, museums and other public spaces to be reopened.
