National Emergency Operation Centre (NEOC) has announced permits will no longer be required to travel to the Greater Male’ Region.
In a press conference held at the NEOC, Spokesperson Mohamed Mabrook Azeez said while permits are no longer required to travel to the capital, permits are still required if an individual wishes to travel from Male' to another island. Mabrook urged travellers to ensure the use of the authorised mobile application to obtain the permits. He said permits are required when travelling from Male' via sea or air, adding permits will be sent via an SMS in efforts to ease online communications.
Furthermore, the spokesperson said all individuals travelling from Male' to other islands must complete a mandatory 14-day quarantine period. However, he said individuals traveling to islands for projects and official purposes are not required to complete a 14-day quarantine period.
