National Emergency Operation Centre (NEOC) has revealed movements in the Greater Male' Region will be allowed from 0500hrs to 2300hrs from July 1 onwards.
The government of the Maldives has distributed the measures to ease the lockdown into several phases in efforts to gradually adapt to new normal conditions. In this regard, the government has announced the implementation of phase 3 of easing lockdown restrictions, starting from July 1.
With the implementation of the phase 3, movements are permitted from 0500hrs to 2300hrs in the Greater Malé Region, although gatherings of over 30 people are not allowed in public spaces. Unlike previously, no specific timings are set for age groups to go out.
Health Protection Agency (HPA) said young children below 12 years of age cannot attend schools, tuition classes or day-care services in the islands with confirmed cases of COVID-19 during phase 3. Meanwhile, sports academies and activities targeted for multiple children, as well as mass gatherings such as parties and rallies are not allowed in such islands. Moreover, operation of guesthouses in the islands with confirmed or suspected cases of COVID-19 is also prohibited during phase 3.
HPA said restaurants and cafes can provide dine-in services from 0900hrs to 2200hrs, while delivery services can be provided from 0900hrs to 2300hrs during phase 3. HPA has advised all restaurants and cafes to abide by the guidelines set by the HPA which includes displaying the maximum number of people allowed inside the premises. All customers and staff are required to wear masks while inside the premises.
Despite the ease in restrictions, HPA has advised to stay indoors unless necessary and to maintain a distance of 3 feet between people. HPA said using masks is mandatory for all closed spaces and public service areas.
