Patient transfers delayed due to closed borders: Aasandha

Aasandha Company Limited has stated the delays in transferring patients abroad for treatment are caused by the extended closure of international borders.

In a statement released to clarify concerns about the delays in transferring patients abroad for treatment, the universal health insurance provider said India and Sri Lanka, which are the two main countries with Aasandha coverage, remain closed due to COVID-19. The company said the patients shortlisted as high-priority will be transferred abroad as soon as borders reopen and the countries provide permission to transfer patients.

Aasandha previously stated it is working on transferring patients who need urgent treatment from abroad, despite the restrictions imposed due to COVID-19. As such, the company revealed efforts are underway to transfer 33 patients abroad.
