President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has issued a directive to extend the partial reopening of government institutions from the June 21 to June 30.
The President’s Office said government institutions may open their offices from 0900 hours to 1300 hours from June 21 to June 30. Despite the partial reopening, general members of the public are not to be allowed inside any government building.
The directive issued by the President’s Office stated government buildings may only be opened within the specified hours, in order to complete essential tasks. Any duties that need to be performed outside of the given working hours should be authorised by the relevant institutional head. In such cases, institutions are required to inform Health Protection Agency (HPA) of the exact nature of the work and the employees attending the tasks. The directive states HPA’s advice should be sought prior to requiring employees to physically attend the workplace.
The directive urges all employees who can work from home to do so and encourages institutions to provide services online where possible.
