Maldives has sent donations to 300 families in 3 countries impacted due to conflicts.
The donation was sent through International Aid Campaign (IAC), a non-governmental organisation collaborating with international parties in providing assistance to people affected by conflicts. IAC has provided assistance to Syrian families living near the borders of Palestine and Turkey. Additionally, donations were also sent to families in Uganda.
The 2020 Pandemic Relief with love is a fund IAC started recently as an addition to its campaigns conducted since 2018. IAC said it has received a total of USD 53,712, despite the COVID-19 outbreak in the Maldives.
The funds will be used to deliver food to families living in affected regions. 100 families in each of the three nations will be provided with food for the entire of Ramadan. IAC also provided hygiene packs to the families.
The IAC also intends to assist families in Nepal, Yemen in addition to sending food support for Rohingya refugees. IAC said a hygiene package and a food package for one individual for an entire month costs USD 60. The campaign closes on May 19.
