President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has ratified the first amendment to the Maldives Anti-Human Trafficking Act.
Under the amendment to the Article 16(b) of the act, the number of members of the National Anti-Human Trafficking Steering Committee (NAHTSC) will be converted to 10 members from the previously stipulated 14 members. The amendment also states the previous committee will continue to function until the formation of the new committee, stipulated to be formed within 10 days of ratification of the amendment.
The amendment was passed by the Parliament of Maldives on March 18. Upon ratification, the amendment has now been published in the Government Gazette.
