The Elections Commission of Maldives (ECM) has announced that 6,093 individuals are eligible to vote in the second round of the Local Council and Women’s Development Committee (WDC) elections scheduled for Saturday.
The commission has released a list detailing ballot box locations and the number of registered voters for each. Candidates may sign the lists at the ECM office between 12:00 and 18:00 today.
The run-off vote will take place in five constituencies. These include the election of a council member for Dhonfanu in Baa Atoll and a councillor for the Dhandimagu constituency in Fuvahmulah City, both of which are reserved for women.
Voting will also be held in Kelaa, Haa Alifu Atoll, for the position of WDC president, and in Neykurendhoo, Haa Dhaalu Atoll, and Maavah, Laamu Atoll, for WDC member positions.
According to the ECM, a total of 14 ballot boxes will be set up, including six in Malé City. Two ballot boxes will be placed in each of Kelaa, Maavah and the Dhandimagu constituency, while one box each will be set up in Neykurendhoo and Dhonfanu.
Of the total registered voters, 1,729 are in Kelaa, 1,056 in Neykurendhoo, 441 in Dhonfanu, 1,556 in Maavah, and 1,311 in the Dhandimagu ward of Fuvahmulah.
In Malé, polling will take place at Thaajuddeen School for voters from Kelaa and Dhonfanu, Hiriyaa School for those from Neykurendhoo and Maavah, and Dharumavantha School for voters from the Dhandimagu constituency.
