Elections Commission of Maldives (ECM) has stated the voters’ registry for the local council elections will be based on the permanent residences registered by January 15.
ECM said the commission is currently working on finalising the voters’ registry for the election. The commission said any alteration of permanent residency must be made before January 15, for it to be effective for the local council elections. They said no changes can be brought to the voters’ registry after this date.
The local council elections and the women’s development committee elections will be held on April 4.
