Turkey to assist Maldives in developing Police Service

Interior Minister of Turkey Suleyman Soylu has stated Turkey will assist Maldives to develop the Maldives Police Service and improve prison conditions. Minister Soylu made the statement during a meeting held with Minister of Home Affairs Imran Abdulla in Ankara, Turkey.

During the meeting, Home Minister Imran said one of the priorities of the government is to develop and expand the services of Maldives Police Service and improve the conditions of prison in order to preserve human dignity under incarceration. He said the policy of the administration is not to punish prisoners but to reinstate them as useful members of the society.

During the meeting, Minister Imran also highlighted the need to develop the bilateral ties between Maldives and Turkey. The home minister's meeting is the first such meeting between the home ministers of the two countries.
